Conduit (peripheral channeling)
Video, sound, Max 8, Blue Bird Flour (installation)

This project initially responded to a viral event in Washington DC involving Christian students wearing MAGA hats, Black Hebrew Israelites, and Indigenous people on the Lincoln Memorial's steps. In this event, I examine the peripheral text contributed via social media platforms and attempt to channel words of conflict, hate, memory, struggle, position, and perseverance, passing these thoughts and words through my being. The audio recording is text selected from these social media archives transformed through the conduit's performance as an oral record ready for healing. The video & flour serves as a shifting temporal space to provide ceremony for this conflict.

A conduit, in esoterism, and spiritual discourse, is a specific object, person, location, or process (such as engaging in a séance or entering a trance) which allows a person to connect or communicate with a spiritual realm, metaphysical energy, or spiritual entity, or vice versa. The use of such a conduit may be entirely metaphoric or symbolic, or it may be earnestly believed to be functional.
